How to Use Apply Print to Create Realistic Garment Mockups
Apply Print lets you add any pattern to a real garment photo in seconds. Simply upload your garment image, select the areas where you want the print applied, and add your swatch. The print automatically follows the garment’s natural drape, folds, and shading for a more realistic result.
What is Apply Print?
Apply Print is the garment mockup mode inside Caimera's Print Designer. Instead of flat-pasting artwork onto a photo, it maps the print to the garment's folds and shadows so the result reads as a real printed sample.

🛠️ Step-by-Step: How to Apply a Print to a Garment
Step 1: Click Print to Product on the Caimera home page. (Or Open Print Designer and switch to Apply Print tool.)
Step 2: Upload a photo of your garment print.
Supported formats: PNG, JPG, WEBP, HEIC/HEIF
Step 3: Select the areas to apply the print to. You can use the auto-detected areas, or brush your own mask if you need full control.
Step 4: Add a print swatch. This can be a print you generated with Create Print, one you extracted from a photo, or your own upload.
Step 5: Choose your print mode.

Step 6: Tune Scale, Offset, and Rotate live on the photo until the placement looks right.

Step 7: Click Generate.

Applying Prints Cleanly on Dark and Pre-printed Garments
Apply Print’s Opacity slider is now called Strength, and it goes up to 200%.

Up to 100% | Works like opacity — the print fades in over the garment. |
100% | The print is fully opaque and keeps the garment's natural drape shading. |
100–200% | The print stays fully opaque while the garment's original colour and print progressively fade out. |
200% | The print is applied completely flat. |
On a dark or already-printed garment, the original colour or pattern would otherwise ghost through your print. Increase Strength past 100% until the ghosting disappears, but stop short of 200% if you want to keep the fold shading. Find the balance that keeps the folds without the ghosting.
Refining & Modifying Prints:
After generation, you can refine your image without starting over.
Text-Based Editing
Use text‑based edits for quick global changes. For example: “Change the color of dress to blue.”
Draw & Edit Feature
Use Draw & Edit when you need to update a specific region.
Click the pencil (scribble) icon to circle the specific area you want to change, then either upload a reference image or type a description (e.g. “remove the straps from the marked area”) and click Edit. Every edit creates a new layer, so you can toggle between variations or revert to the original base image at any time.
Upscale and Download
Images are generated at 1K resolution for fast rendering. When your design is complete:
- Click the Upscale button in the left panel.
- With the Crystal Upscaler, you can upscale images by up to 14K.

- Why is the original garment color or pattern bleeding through my print?
Your Strength setting is too low; push it above 100% to block out background ghosting without losing your shadow folds.
- Should I choose Placement Print or Repeating Print?
Use Placement for single spot graphics like chest logos or back artwork, and Repeating for all-over seamless patterns.
- What if auto-detection selects buttons, zippers, or trims I don't want printed?
Switch to the manual brush tool to paint over only the exact fabric panels you want to customize.
