How to Use the Image to Sketch tool
The Image to Sketch tool is a powerful feature within Caimera’s Sketch to Image suite. It allows you to convert product or on-model images into clean line drawings and 3D sketches, and CADs which can then be used to design your products in any software.
Step 1: Navigate to the Sketch to Image tool in Caimera. By default, the interface opens in the Sketch to Image mode. To switch workflows, simply click the toggle button on the left panel to activate the Image to Sketch workflow.
Supported formats: PNG, JPG, WEBP, HEIC/HEIF, PDF, AI, DXF, SVG
Minimum resolution: 768px
Maximum files: 100 images

Step 2: Once you have switched the workflow to Image to Sketch, you can upload your images into the left panel. You can track your generation history at any time in the right panel.

Step 3: Select Model Type
Choose the model type that best aligns with your project requirements:
Feature / Detail | V1 Model | V2 Model |
Primary Use Case | Quick previews & standard quality | High quality & better detail accuracy |
Speed & Cost | Much quicker and cheaper | Takes slightly longer to load, slightly more expensive |
Image to Sketch: 2K | 2 credits per image | 5 credits per image |
Sketch to Image: 4K | 4 credits per image | 6 credits per image |
Edits | Unlimited (except on Mini plan) | Unlimited (except on Mini plan) |

Step 4: Once you've uploaded all your images click the Generate button. The tool will process your files in bulk. Once complete, your newly generated sketches will appear in the History Panel on the right.

Step 5: Review Results
Your generated images will appear in the right panel. The product image will be transformed into a detailed sketch. Click Compare on the left to view the original image and the generated sketch side by side.

Edit Your Generated Image
After generation, you can also refine your image without starting over.
Text-Based Editing
Describe the change you want in plain text. For example: "make the colorway as beige pink in the shoes, keep the same stitch and logo details"
Draw & Edit Tool
Click the pencil (scribble) icon to circle or draw on the area you want to change. Then either upload a reference image or type a description (e.g., "add a bow lace to the shoe") and click Edit.

Layers Panel
Every edit creates a new layer. You can toggle between variations or revert to the original base image at any time.

Upscale and Download
Images after edits are generated at 1K resolution for fast rendering. When your design is complete:
- Click the Upscale button in the left panel.
- Select your preferred upscaling resolution and click Apply.
- Select your final upscaled layer, click Download, and choose your preferred file format.
Here is a short article showing the file formats we support, how they differ, and the best use cases for your design workflow.

Frequently Asked Questions:
- Can I process multiple images at the same time?
Yes! Caimera supports bulk processing. You can upload and convert up to 100 images simultaneously in a single batch.
- Why does my edited image look less detailed than the original?
To keep the interface fast and responsive while you design, all intermediate edits are rendered at a temporary 1K resolution. To get your high-fidelity details back, simply use the Upscale tool on your final layer before exporting.
- Will editing a generated image cost me extra credits?
Edits are free across all our plans and don't cost credits.
