How to Create a Complete Tech Pack from a Single Product Image
The Tech Pack tool generates a full, factory-ready tech pack from one product image. You name your tech pack, pick your own template, and upload an image. Caimera fills in the construction details, fit description, materials, sample measurements and full size grading. Everything it produces is editable, and you can download the finished pack as a PDF or AI file.
What is the Tech Pack tool?
Tech packing typically takes three to five hours per style, most of it repetitive typing. The Tech Pack tool reads a single product photo, identifies the construction, matches materials against your library, and populates your existing tech pack format, turning hours of documentation into a scan-and-correct review.
The tool adapts to your template rather than imposing a fixed format, so the output slots into your existing workflow and your factory's expectations.

Before You Start: Setting Up Your Tech Pack Library
There are three components to set up before generating your first tech pack. Each one is what the AI draws on when it fills your pack in.
1. Materials: Upload your material library so the tool can identify and name the right fabrics and trims. Companies can also connect their PLM software to Caimera to import their materials automatically.
You can also add materials to your library manually by clicking the Add Material button in the top-right. This allows you to upload the material’s description, material type, and swatch, so you can build and maintain your material reference library directly within Caimera.
When the generator detects a fabric or trim in your image, it searches this library and pulls in the closest match by name — for example, a champagne satin and a gold-tone dome button.
2. Grading, Measurements and Fit: Upload your own grading rules, measurement points and fit standards (Excel files are supported) so the generated measurements follow your house sizing rather than a generic set.
3. Templates: You can use a company-standard tech pack template that your team already uses across the organization. Currently, there isn’t an option to upload and add a custom tech pack template directly within the app.

You can send it as an Excel or PDF file, and our team will create and add it to your workspace. Once added, you’ll be able to use the template to generate tech packs in your preferred company format.

To get the most accurate and detailed results from the Tech Pack tool, keep the following image guidelines in mind:
- Quality & Resolution: Use clear, atleast 2k high-resolution images with good lighting to ensure the AI can accurately detect construction details, fabrics, and trims.
- Format Flexibility: The tool is versatile, you can upload either a raw design sketch or a photograph of a finished product.

🛠️ Step-by-Step: How to Create a Tech Pack
Step 1: From the Caimera homepage, click Tech Pack at the bottom of the Caimera homepage under Design. You'll also find it in the left panel of the editor.
Step 2: Click Create New Tech Pack and give it a name.
Step 3: Select your template and upload your product image. A single image of the product is all the tool needs to start. (Optional) You can also add supporting images, a back view, or existing colourways.
Step 4: Click Create.
Step 5: Your tech pack opens blank at first — your template, with no fit description, no fabric name and no measurements. The generator then fills it in, detecting materials and matching them against your material library. This takes a few minutes.
What the Tech Pack Generator Fills In

The product description matters more than it might appear. Factories in many locations rely on written detail to interpret a style, and writing a fit description by hand can take fifteen minutes of thinking per style. The tool writes it for you.
Editing Your Tech Pack
Everything the generator produces is editable, the tech pack behaves like a PDF — you can click into and change.
- Text — Click any field and type. Correct a description, adjust the fit notes, or add a detail such as add a belt.
- Measurements — Click a value and type a new one. If you want the top slightly longer, change 24 to 26.
- Images — Click a colourway slot, choose Upload File, and add a colourway that isn't already in the pack.
- Special instructions — Sewing instructions, top-stitch notes and similar details can be typed in. If they're part of your uploaded template, the tool will try to populate them too.
Adding Images to Your Tech Pack Directly
You can place images into your tech pack yourself, without going through the assistant.
- Fill an empty slot — Click any empty image slot in the preview and either upload a file or pick from your Library's Generations, References and Products. Shopify and Bynder sources are available too.
- Smart Crop — If the image doesn't match the slot's shape, it's automatically cropped to fit the product, exactly like assistant-placed images.
- Replace a placed image — Click the image and hit Replace on its toolbar.
- Everything you place also lands in your reference Library, so it's one click away next time.
Generating Missing Tech Pack Images
If you don't have every image your tech pack calls for, the assistant can create the missing ones from your product photo.

You approve every image. Each generation shows an Approve / Decline card in the chat before anything is created, and the result appears in the chat for review before it's placed. Each approved image costs the same credits as an image edit.
Real assets stay real. Material swatches, fabric close-ups and brand labels are never generated. Those always come from your uploads or your materials catalogue.
A Note on Measurement Accuracy
Measurements are produced by image analysis, and they're a strong estimate rather than a guarantee. AI isn't 100% accurate in any field, so the workflow assumes a human eye on the numbers — expect roughly one measurement in ten to need adjusting.
In practice, scanning a populated tech pack and correcting a value is considerably faster than typing every measurement from scratch. Intent also matters: if you want a top to sit longer than the estimate, that's an edit rather than an error. Every measurement is editable.
Downloading and Sharing
Download your finished tech pack as a PDF or AI file by clicking the Download button in the top-right corner, then share it with your factory. A tech pack helps communicate a style between the buyer and factory and serves as documentation, so it’s designed to be easily exported and shared.
The 2D sketch is an editable SVG. When you download the technical drawing and open it in Illustrator, you get editable strokes with closed shapes — the sketch is a line, not a fill. That means you can apply prints and colours to the shapes, and add extra points to any line.
