# How to Use Apply Print to Create Placement Print Garment Mockups

Want to bring your standalone graphics, logos, and chest prints to life on real apparel? With Caimera's **Apply Print** feature, you can easily create stunning placement prints that map seamlessly onto any garment photo.

Instead of focusing on all-over repeating patterns, this guide shows you how to leverage the Apply Print workflow specifically for placement graphics—allowing you to stamp, position, and blend individual artwork with total precision.

For a comprehensive overview of the entire tool, check out the guide on [how to use Apply Print in Caimera](https://help.caimera.ai/en/article/how-to-use-apply-print-to-create-realistic-garment-mockups-gj4p96/?bust=1790761651012).

###### 🔧 Perfect For

* Showing a logo or chest graphic on a real garment before sampling
* Testing one placement print across several silhouettes
* Presenting single-motif graphics to buyers
* Mocking up artwork on dark or already-printed garments
* Closing the loop after generating a graphic or logo in Print Designer

###### 🛠️ Step-by-Step: How to Apply a Placement Print to a Garment

**Step 1:** Click Print to Product on the Caimera home page. *(Or open Print Designer and switch to the Apply Print tool.)*

![Step 1: Navigate to Apply Print tool](https://storage.crisp.chat/users/helpdesk/website/-/c/8/b/f/c8bf533b39f9b00/9fac7d48-f687-48aa-81d4-fd9b70_vkavbw.gif =600x284)

**Step 2:** Upload a photo of your garment.
* **Supported formats:** PNG, JPG, WEBP, HEIC/HEIF

**Step 3:** Select the areas to apply the print to. You can use the auto-detected areas, or brush your own mask if you need full control.

**Step 4:** Add a placement print image. This can be a graphic you generated, one you extracted from a photo, or your own uploaded logo/artwork file.

![Step 4:Adding a print swatch](https://storage.crisp.chat/users/helpdesk/website/-/c/8/b/f/c8bf533b39f9b00/image_1rvxszz.png =600x283)

**Step 5:** Select the **Placement Print mode** to fine-tune the AI for precise placement of your print/artwork, such as chest graphics or logos, on your garment.

This helps you give the AI the exact placement print that you want and add it precisely where intended on your garment.

When uploading your print for a placement workflow, you will have an option regarding its background:

* **Remove Background:** Automatically strips away the background of your print to leave just your standalone artwork, giving you a clean, isolated graphic print on the garment. **Otherwise the print** retains the background exactly as it is in your uploaded file.

![Step 5: Choose your print mode.](https://storage.crisp.chat/users/helpdesk/website/-/c/8/b/f/c8bf533b39f9b00/image_123vwmo.png =600x283)

**Step 6:** Tune Scale, Offset, and Rotate live on the photo until the placement looks right.

| **Setting** | **Value** | **Description** |
| ---- | ---- | ---- |
| **Scale** | 0.29 | Scales the print pattern down to 29% of its original size to fit the garment. |
| **Offset X** | 0 | Keeps the print perfectly centered along the horizontal axis. |
| **Offset Y** | -22 | Shifts the print vertically to properly align the pattern's placement. |
| **Rotate** | -5° | Tilts the print slightly counter-clockwise to match the garment's natural angle. |
| **Strength** | 77% | Blends the print into the garment with a slight fade, retaining natural shadows. |
| **Depth (Shading)** | 1.00 | Maintains full, natural depth mapping on the garment's folds. |
| **Highlight (Shading)** | 0.70 | Moderates the brightness of the light hitting the highest points of the fabric. |
| **Sheen threshold** | 1.80 | Determines exactly how much light is required to trigger a glossy reflection on the material. |
| **Sheen strength** | 0.12 | Adds a very subtle, natural glossy finish to the fabric. |
| **Sheen cap** | 0.15 | Limits the maximum intensity of the sheen so it doesn't look artificially bright. |
| **Edge floor** | Default | Establishes the baseline darkness for the garment's outer edges. |

**Step 7:** Click Generate.

###### Refining & Modifying Prints:

After generation, you can refine your image without starting over.

**Text-Based Editing**
Use text‑based edits for quick global changes. For example: “Change the color of dress to blue.”

**Draw & Edit Feature**
Use **Draw & Edit** when you need to update a specific region.

Click the pencil (scribble) icon to circle the specific area you want to change, then either upload a reference image or type a description (e.g. “remove the straps from the marked area”) and click **Edit**. Every edit creates a new layer, so you can toggle between variations or revert to the original base image at any time.

### Upscale and Download

Images are generated at 1K resolution for fast rendering. When your design is complete:

* Click the **Upscale** button in the left panel.
* With the **Crystal Upscaler**, you can upscale images by up to **14K.**

* Once Upscaled, click **Download** to save the high-resolution image. Here, you can choose from multiple styles depending on your preferred file format and level of detail. || 💡 Pro Tip: Brush your own mask when auto-detection picks up trims, zips, or panels you don't want your placement graphic covering. If you want a clean logo look without any surrounding box or background color from your file, make sure to use the remove background toggle when adding your print swatch. Start with 100% Strength and only push it higher if you can see the garment’s original colour coming through behind your logo.

###### FAQs

1. **Why is the original garment color or pattern bleeding through my placement print?**
Your Strength setting is too low; push it above 100% to block out background ghosting without losing your shadow folds.

2. **Should I remove the background of my placement print or keep it?**
Choose **Remove Background** if you want an isolated graphic or logo printed cleanly onto the fabric without any surrounding file background. Choose **Keep Background** if your graphic relies on its original background canvas or artwork block.

3. **Should I choose Placement Print or Repeating Print?**
Use **Placement Print** for single spot graphics like chest logos, typography, or back artwork, and Repeating for all-over seamless patterns.

4. **What if auto-detection selects buttons, zippers, or trims I don't want my graphic to land on?**
Switch to the manual brush tool to paint over only the exact fabric panels where you want your placement graphic to sit.

5. **Why does my initial preview image look a bit soft or low resolution?**
Initial renders generate at 1K for speed, so hit the Crystal Upscaler in the left panel to bump it up to 14K before downloading.
